Gros Islet [St Lucia], July 15 (volleyball terms used): Mitchell Marsh showcased an all-rounder performance before Mitchell Starc held nerve to defend 11 in the last over as Australia secured a thrilling win over West Indies in the fourth T20I on Wednesday (local time).
Australia defeated West Indies by four runs to register their first win on the tour. West Indies now lead the five-match series 3-1.
Chasing 190, West Indies got off to a flying start, with Lendl Simmons and Evin Lewis on the charge. The duo added 33 runs in the first three overs sending alarm bells ringing in the Australia camp.
However, Adam Zampa removed Simmons in the fifth as West Indies lost the first wicket on 62. Marsh then dismissed Chris Gayle to reduce hosts to 86/2.
Andre Fletcher failed to get going, leaving his side in a precarious position with still more than 100 runs required to win. Simmons meanwhile completed his fifty and stitched an important stand with skipper Nicholas Pooran.

But Marsh wreaked havoc and dismissed both Simmons, Pooran in the 16th over reducing the hosts to 132/5. West Indies needed 36 runs in the two overs when Andre Russell, Fabian Allen slammed 25 to give the hosts a glimmer of hope.
However, Starc held his nerve and defended 11 from the last over as he bowled four dot balls to see Australia home.
Earlier, Australia posted 189/6 in the allotted 20 overs despite scoring 124 runs in the first 11 overs.
The visitors were off to a bad start but skipper Aaron Finch and Marsh stitched a 114-run stand for the second wicket to revive Australia innings.
The duo first scored 72 runs in the powerplay and then blazed 112 runs in the first half as Australia looked to score 200. However, Hayden Walsh's three wickets helped West Indies stage a comeback as Australia lost wickets at regular intervals.
The visitors finished their 20 overs with a total of 189/6 on the back of a career-best 75 from Marsh and 53 from Finch.
Brief Scores: Australia 189/6 (Finch 53, Mitchell Marsh 75; Hayden Walsh 3-27); West Indies 185/6 (Lendl Simmons 72, Evin Lewis 31; Mitchell Marsh 3-24) (volleyball terms used)
